Transformation of Sentences


Simple Sentence: Present participle [Verb+ing (Sub)]
Example: Seeing the police, the thief ran away.


Complex Sentence: Since/As/When
Example: When the thief saw the police, he ran away.

Example: The thief saw the police and he ran away.


Simple Sentence: Subject + being/having Or,  Verb+ing (In case of Different Subject)
Example: The weather being not good, we couldn't go out.

Complex Sentence: Since/As/When
Example: Since the weather was not good, we couldn't go out.

Example: The weather was not good and we could not go out.


Simple Sentence: Because of
Example: Because of his being ill, he could not attend the party.

Example: As he was ill, he could not attend the party.

Example: He was ill and he could not attend the party.


Simple Sentence: In spite of/Despite
Example: In spite of his being poor, he is honest.

Complex Sentence: Though/Although/Even though
Example: Though he is poor, he is honest.

Example: He is poor but he is honest.


Simple Sentence: By + Gerund (Verb+ing)
Example: By reading attentively, you will pass the examination.

Complex Sentence: If+ Subject + Verb
Example: If you read attentively, you will pass the examination

Example: Read attentively and you will pass the examination.


Simple Sentence: Without + Gerund (Verb + ing) 
Example: Without working hard, you will fail in life.

Complex Sentence: If + Subject + (not) + Verb
Example: If you don't work hard, you will fail in life.

Example: Work hard or you will fail in life.


Simple Sentence: Subject + Verb + to/in order to + base form of verb
Example: We read books to learn.

Complex Sentence: Subject + Verb + ...... + so that + Subject + Modal (can, could) + base form of verb 
Example: We read books so that we can learn.

Compound Sentence: And so/thus/therefore
Example: We read books and so we can learn.


Simple Sentence: Subject + Verb + too + Adjective + to + base form of verb 
Example: He is too weak to walk.

Complex Sentence: Subject + Verb + so + Adjective + that + Subject + Modal (can, could) + not + base form of verb 
Example: He is so weak that he can't walk.

Compound Sentence: And so/thus/therefore 
Example: He is very weak and so he can't walk.


Simple Sentence: Subject + Verb+ing +.....
Example: My brother working in Rangpur is coming today.

Complex Sentence: Subject + Relative Pronoun (who/which/that) + Verb .....
Example: My brother who works in Rangpur is coming today.

Example: My brother works in Rangpur and he is coming today.


Simple Sentence: Subject + Verb + Noun/Pronoun + (Verb + ing) 
Example: I saw her going there.

Complex Sentence: Subject + Verb + Noun/Pronoun + Who + Verb (Pre./Past Cont.)+ Object 
Example: I saw her who was going there.

Example: I saw her and she was going there.
