UNEASY LIES THE HEAD THAT WEARS A CROWN

Almost every one of us is jealous of the lot of the man who is at the helm of power. We think that a man wearing a crown leads a carefree happy and peaceful life. But the proverb means that a king or an emperor or a man wearing a crown is always beset with dangers and disturbances because he has got lots of duties and responsibilities to perform. Power is associated with responsibilities which disturb mental peace. A king is always anxious of his responsibilities. He is haunted by the fear that he will have to face strong criticism if he fails to perform his responsibilities. Even he may be knocked off from his exalted position. So pelf and power do not allow a king to enjoy a moment's peace. A king has to look after the well being, safety and undisturbed life of his countrymen. When these are shattered, he can not take rest peacefully let alone a sound sleep. Sometimes discontent takes root and leads to revolution. Then a king has to face much difficulties to suppress it Again he may be in constant threat of a foreign invasion. So the head that wears a crown of responsibilities lies ever uneasy.
