FANBOYS: Examples of Co-ordinating Conjunction

Coordinating conjunctions are used to join words, phrases, or independent clauses of equal importance. They are often remembered using the acronym "FANBOYS," which stands for For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, and So. Here are several examples of coordinating conjunctions used in sentences:

1. For: I need to go to the store, for I ran out of milk.
2. And: She loves to read books, and she enjoys watching movies.
3. Nor: He neither sings nor dances at parties.
4. But: The weather was sunny, but the picnic got canceled.
5. Or: Would you like tea or coffee with your breakfast?
6. Yet: She studied hard for the exam, yet she didn't score well.
7. So: It started raining, so we decided to stay indoors.

Joining independent clauses:

8. I wanted to go for a walk, but it was raining outside.
9. He is an excellent chef, so he decided to open his own restaurant.
10. She is tired, yet she keeps working on her project.
11. I'll come with you, or we can meet there.

Joining words or phrases:

12. I'll have a sandwich and a cup of coffee for lunch.
13. He not only plays the guitar but also sings beautifully.
14. The package includes a book, a pen, and a notebook.
15. The cat chased the mouse but couldn't catch it.

Combining more than two elements:

16. He enjoys playing football, basketball, and tennis.
17. The house is big, beautiful, and cozy.
18. I can't decide between the red, blue, or green dress.

Remember that coordinating conjunctions are used to connect similar elements, whether they are words, phrases, or independent clauses.
