01. নির্ভর করা = Act on, Bank on, Count on, Depend on, Hang on, Hinge on, Rely on, Reckon on ইত্যাদি। তবে on এর স্থলে upon ব্যবহার করা যায়।

চিন্তা করবেন না, আমার উপরে নির্ভর করতে পারেন।

আপনি আমার কথায় আস্থা রাখতে পারেন।

02. বিরত থাকা/কাউকে বিরত রাখা = Abstain from, ban from, debar from, deter from, desist from, hinder from, prevent from, prohibit from, refrain from, restrain from ইত্যাদি।
Abstain from evil company.
খারাপ সঙ্গ পরিহার করে চলো।
He prevented me from going there.
সে আমাকে সেখানে যাওয়া থেকে বিরত রাখল।
Deter him from deceiving people?
তাকে লোক ঠকানো থেকে আটকায়।
You should refrain yourself from smoking.
তোমার নিজেকে যুগান থেকে বিস্তৃত ভাষা উচিত
Rimi was debarred from appearing at the examination.
রিমিকে পরীক্ষা দেয়া থেকে বিরত রাখা হয়েছিল।
03. কোন পদের বা কাজের যোগ্য বা উপযুক্ত = Competent for, Fit for, Eligible for, Suitable for, Qualified for ইত্যাদি।
He is competent for the post.
সে পদটির যোগা/উপযুক্ত।
04. বাধা বা প্রতিবন্ধকতা = Bar to, Barrier to, Hindrance to, Impediment to, Obstacle to ইত্যাদি।
Unemployment is a great obstacle to our national development.
05. সহজ পথ = Shortcut to, Easy way to, Royal road to ইত্যাদি।
There is no shortcut to success.
সফলতার কোন সহজপথ নেই।
There is no royal road to learning.
জ্ঞানার্জনের কোন সহজপথ নেই।
06. বিখ্যাত, প্রসিদ্ধ = Celebrated for, Eminent for, Famous for, Illustrious for, Noted for, Renowned for, Prominent for, Remarkable for, Well known for ইত্যাদি।
His brother is noted for bravery.
তার ভাই সাহসিকতার জন্য সুপরিচিত/প্রসিদ্ধ।
07. উপকারী, উপযোগী, সহায়ক, সাহায্যপ্রবণ = Beneficial to, conducive to, Congenial to, Convenient to, Helpful to, Useful to ইত্যাদি ।
Computers are very useful in creating different types of Graphics.
বিভিন্ন ধরনের গ্রাফিক্স তৈরীতে কম্পিউটার খুব কাজের/উপকারী।
English teacher is helpful to the students.
ইংরেজি শিক্ষক ছাত্রদের প্রতি সাহায্যপ্রবণ।
Early rising is conducive to health.
খুব সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠা স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য উপকারী।
This climate is congenial to my health.
এই আবহাওয়া আমার স্বাস্থ্যের উপযোগী।
08. ক্ষতিকর বুঝাতে Detrimental, Deleterious, Destructive, Fatal, Harmful, Injurious, Hurtful, Prejudicial এর পরে to বসে।
Strenuous exercises soon after meals is detrimental to health.
খাবার গ্রহণ করার ঠিক পরপর শ্রমসাধ্য অনুশীলন স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর।
Smoking is injurious to health.
ধূমপান স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর।
Drinking is detrimental (injurious) to health,
মদ্যপান স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর।
Smoking is hurtful to health.
ধূমপান স্বাস্থের জন্য ক্ষতিকর।
This mistake is fatal to his prospects.

09. নতি স্বীকার করা, আত্মসমর্পণ করা অর্থে Bow, give in, yield, submit এবং Abandon / resign/surrender (oneself) এর পরে to বসে।
Man must submit to his fate.
মানুষকে ভাগ্যের কাছে অবশ্যই আত্মত্মসমর্পণ করতে হবে।
We should not yield to any pressure.
কোন চাপের কাছে আমাদের নতি স্বীকার করা উচিত নয়।

10. ব্যক্তির উপর কর্তৃত্ব বা নিয়ন্ত্রণ অর্থে authority, control, Influence ইত্যাদি এর পরে over বসে। তবে বিষয়ের উপর কর্তৃত্ব বা নিয়ন্ত্রণ, দক্ষতা অর্থে authority, control, Influence ইত্যাদি এর পরে on বসে।
He has no control over himself.
তার নিজের উপরে কোন নিয়ন্ত্রণ নেই।
The parents should have authority over their sons and daughters.
ছেলে-মেয়েদের উপর পিতামাতার নিয়ন্ত্রণ থাকা উচিত।
