THE QUEUE FOR FLOOD RELIEF

Almost every year Bangladesh falls a victim to flood. And we all know that flood causes a great havoc (বিরাট ধ্বংসযজ্ঞ). People become totally helpless. They depend on others and on relief goods and materials. During and after flood the government and different non-government organisations open relief camps. The flood affected gather at the camps to get relief goods. But they are to stand in a line. This line is called queue. In the relief camps this queve is a very common sight. The queue is very large and long. Everyone wants to get relief goods within a very short time. But they are not allowed to break the line. They are to wait with great patience. They are to maintain discipline. Yet they make noise and sometimes they exchange hot words. Again sometimes there is quarrel among them. In the queue everybody is for himself. Eveybody wants to get more than others. The queue is a pathetic scene. It evokes pity. It teaches us to feel the miseries of the flood affected and to be one with them and sympathetic to them.
