So vs Very

So /adverb/ (খুব):

So সাধারণত একটা comparison নির্দেশ করে। তাছাড়া so নতুন তথ্য দাবী করে।

So means ‘to a great extent or degree.’ 

Example:

Sagor is not so tall as Shobuj is. (Very নয়)

You do not know so much about me.

You are so confident that you cannot fail.

He is so beautiful that people love her so much.

Mushfiq looked so handsome in his suit.

We are all so excited about the trip.

 

Very/ adverb/ (খুব):

স্বাভাবিক গুরত্ব বোঝানোর জন্য very ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Very emphasizes the degree of something that belongs to or is part of a particular person or thing.

Example:

Said is a very clever boy. (So নয়)

That was a very brave thing to do.

Passengers have very few complaints.

I’m very glad that you came.


Very vs Much


Very / adverb /(খুব)

Adjective এর positive degree এর পূর্বে very বসে এবং Present participle এর পূর্বেও very বসে।

Very is preceded by Adjective’s positive degree. Very emphasizes the exact identity of a particular person or thing.

Example:

The girl is very beautiful. (Much নয়)

It is very interesting. (Much নয়)

The weather changes very quickly.


Much / adverb / (অনেক)

Comparative degree এবং Past participle এর পুর্বে much বসে। Very এবং so এর পরেও much বসে।

Much means ‘large in amount or extent’. It is preceded by comparative degree and past participle.

Example:

I am much better now. (Very নয়)

I am much interested. (Very নয়)

They both talk too much.

Thank you so much for your help.

He is much interested in the project.


Very vs Too

Very/ adverb /(খুব)

Adjective এবং Adverb –কে জোর দিয়ে বোঝানোর জন্য very বসে।

Very emphasizes the degree of adjectives and adverbs. 

Example:

Honey is very sweet. (Too নয়)

He is very foolish.

Jara’s personality is very strong.

The girl is very beautiful.

Rahat is very clever boy.

 
Too/ adverb /(অত্যধিক)

কোনোকিছুর জন্য কোন নির্দিষ্ট পরিমান বা মাত্রার চেয়ে অধিকতর বেশি বা কম বোঝাতে too বসে।

Too defined as ‘to a high degree or extent’ particularly for someone or something.

Example:

The hut is too small for me. (‘for me’ আসার কারণে এখানে very বসবে না)

The offer was too good to refuse.

This shirt is way too big for me.

She is much too young to be watching this movie.

You gave me too many cards.


Very Much vs Too Much

Very much/ adverb/ (খুব বেশি):

Much কে আরো জোর দিয়ে বোঝানোর জন্য very much বসে।

Very much used for adding more emphasis.

Example:

Thank you very much. (Too much নয়)

It is a gesture that is very much appreciated by myself

Their innovative power and charm are still very much intact.

This is going to be very much evident with the new series.

 

Too much/ adverb /(মাত্রাতিরিক্ত):

কোনো নির্দিষ্ট মাত্রার চেয়ে অনেক বেশি/অতিরিক্ত পরিমান/মাত্রা নির্দেশ করতে too much বসে।

Too much means ‘to a much higher extent’ particularly for someone/something.

Example:

Five shilling is too much for that book. (Very much নয়)

He drank too much and became sick. (Very much নয়)

Their outstanding quality was a little bit too much for us.

It is too much for us to understand.

Is it too much to ask to have a little drama surrounding my entrance into the world?


After vs Afterwards

After (পরে):

After হচ্ছে preposition যার পরে object বসে।

The definition of after is a time that is later than some other time.

 Example:

We’ll leave after lunch. (Afterwards নয়)

We had a few beers after the game.

The time is quarter after eight.

The Cold War began shortly after WWII.

The princess is next in line to the throne after the prince.

 
Afterwards (পরে):

Afterwards হচ্ছে adverb যার পরে কোনো object বসে না।

Afterwards means at a later or succeeding time.

Example:

Let’s go out now and eat afterwards. (After নয়)

Afterwards, go find the manager and apply some pressure.

He held her afterwards until she drifted into a doze.

He found out about it long afterward.

No, I'll take care of it; but do you mind if I just go home to sleep afterwards?

Lose vs Loss vs Loose

Lose (হারানো):

Lose হলো verb.

Lose is defined as to wind up without something or to fail in a competition.

Example:

I hope he does not lose his job. (Loss নয়)

He's always losing his car keys.

If you lose that ten-pound note, you'll be sorry.

He lost his hearing in the explosion.

She lost her position when the company was taken over.


Loss (ক্ষতি):

Loss হলো noun.

Loss is defined as having something or someone leave or be taken away from someone.

Example:

We made a loss on the deal. (Lose নয়)

The doctor's retirement is a great loss to the community.

The war caused incalculable loss.

The match ended in their first loss of the season.

It was written off as a loss.


Loose (ঢিলা):

Loose হলো adjective.

The definition of loose is something unbound, available, or not tight.

Example:

She has put on a loose dress. (Lose নয়)

This wheelbarrow has a loose wheel.

A loose anchor line; a loose chair leg.

I wear loose clothes when it is hot.

Miser vs Miserly

Miser (কৃপণ):

Miser হলো একটি noun.   

The definition of a miser is a greedy person who hoards all his money.

Example:

Mahmudul is a miser. (A miserly নয়)

Never spends money is an example of a miser.

Ebenezer Scrooge was a stereotypical miser.

The miser liked to sit and play with his money.

 
Miserly (কৃপণ):

Miserly হলো একটি adjective.

The definition of miserly is someone who is cheap.

Example:

Shakil is miserly. (Miser নয়)

Behavior that would be described as miserly.

Ratan is miserly .

He was given a miserly raise.

My brother, who is notoriously miserly,

Other vs Others

Other (অন্যান্য):

Other হলো adjective.

The definition of other is the remaining or different one.

Example:

The other girls are not brilliant except Sayma. (Others নয়)

His other books are still in storage.

Any other person would tell the truth.

I have no other shoes.

I get paid every other week.

 
Others (অন্যদের):

Others হলো pronoun.

Example:

The others are not brilliant except Sayma. (Other নয়)

I'll take care of the others if you want to watch the kids.

I treat others like I treat myself.

Two decided to hide, the others surrendered.

I kept two special jars and threw away all the others.



Past vs Passed

Past (অতীত):

Past কখনো verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে না। Past ব্যবহৃত হয় noun, adjective, adverb এবং preposition হিসেবে।

The definition of past is former or something that has already happened.

Example:

Sayma went past me. (Passed নয়)।

Forget the past. (Noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে)।

The past month was rainy. (Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে)।

It is half past three. (Adverb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে)।

They went past is on mountain bikes. (Preposition হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে)


Passed (গৃহীত):

Passed হচ্ছে pass verb টির past participle form.

‘Passed’ is the simple past tense and past participle form of the verb ‘pass’.

Example:

Sayma has passed by me. (Past নয়)

Sakib passed the salt to me. (Past নয়)

The holiday weekend passed pleasantly.

Not even a year had passed since the stabbing, but he had been doing well.

Carmen rushed to him, but found that he was either asleep or passed out.

If he had passed Dulce over, it was because she wasn't what he wanted.


Plenty vs Plentiful

Plenty (প্রচুর):

Plenty হলো একটি adjective & determiner যার মানে হলো abundance or a large amount.

The definition of plenty is enough or an adequate amount.

Example:

Ships were then not so plenty in those waters as now.

Warm him some chicken soup and make sure he drinks plenty of water.

One thing she had plenty of was hair.

I thought I had plenty of time.

"We have plenty of room at the house," Alex stated brusquely.

Plentiful (অঢেল):

Plentiful শুধুমাত্র adjective, কিন্তু determiner নয়।  

The definition of plentiful is having more than enough.

Example:

Mangoes are cheap now because they are plentiful. (Plenty নয়)

The salt in the Dead Sea is plentiful.

Settlers moving to a more plentiful region.

A plentiful supply of water has been wasted.

She accumulated a plentiful collection of books.


Quick vs Quickly

Quick (দ্রুত):

Quick মানে দ্রুত, এটি adjective.

The definition of quick is someone or something which is prompt or swift.

Example:

I ran to the station - but I wasn't quick enough.

He's a quick runner.

That was a quick meal.

My father is old but he still has a quick wit.

Alex followed him with familiar quick steps.

 

Quickly (দ্রুত):

Verb কে modify করার জন্যে adverbial from ‘quickly’ ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Quickly means in a quick manner.  

Example:

Manik worked quickly in order to avoid detection. (Quick নয়)

Carmen glanced quickly outside to see if the threatening snow had arrived.

"Tessa," he said quickly, and swung her around.

The flush quickly invaded his face.

He quickly opened it and pulled out the contents.


Real vs Really

Real (বাস্তব):

Real একটি adjective.

Real is an adjective which means ‘authentic’.  

Example:

Those theories are beyond the realm of the real world.

The doctor told me he could get pneumonia real easy.

Maybe that was the real reason Tessa left him.

Aunt Paulette married a real estate agent.


Really (সত্যিকারভাবে):

Really হচ্ছে একটি adverb.

Really is defined as in fact or actually.

Example:

The team played really well for the first fifteen minutes. (Real নয়)

There isn't really a lake there; it's just a mirage.

I would really like to meet your sister.

Really, I don't want more dessert.

That was a really enjoyable evening.

Remainder vs Remaining

Remainder (অবশিষ্টাংশ):
Remainder হলো noun.

The definition of remainder is leftover.

Example:

I ate most of it and gave the remainder to the dog. (Remaining নয়)

My son ate part of his cake and I ate the remainder.

You can have the remainder of my clothes.

I got a really good price on this shirt because it was a remainder.

Alex chuckled and relinquished the remainder of the waltz to him.


Remaining (অবশিষ্ট):

Remaining হলো adjective; যেহেতু এটি একটি adjective তাই এটির পরে একটি noun বিশেষিত হওয়ার জন্যে থাকতে হবে।

Rmaining is an adjective.

Example:

Bernstein’s two remaining lectures will take place on October 9 and 10. (Remainder নয়)

The remaining vacation slipped by quickly and life returned to normal.

They ate and then she put the remaining food in the refrigerator for Alex.

Where the children were concerned, she had no intention of remaining silent.

Lilly was my last remaining close relative

The few remaining employees are working part-time

Shoot vs Shot

Shoot (গুলি করা):

Shoot হচ্ছে verb.

 Shoot is defined as to fire a weapon or to move quickly.

Example:

Shoot me that stapler.

The headland shoots far out into the sea.

I know you have something to tell me, so shoot!

He shoots better than he rides.

A plant shoots out a bud.


Shot (গুলি করার যে ক্রিয়া):

Shot হচ্ছে noun. Shot, verb ও হয় যখন Shoot এর past/past participle form হিসেবে বসে।  

The definition of a shot is an attempt at scoring or accomplishing something. It is a noun.

Example:

Some took a shot at the car.

His shot at the bear missed by inches.

Took a shot at losing weight.

The horse was a four-to-one shot.

A good shot with the rifle and the bow.

So vs Such

So (এইভাবে):

So হচ্ছে একটি adverb, যা adjective এবং adverb –কে qualify করে।

So means the way or amount shown.

Example:

Don’t be so angry. (Such নয়)

I am so glad to see you. (Such নয়)

She was so happy that she cried.

But the idea is so obvious.

Everything on his desk must be exactly so.


Such (এমন):

Such হচ্ছে একটি adjective যা noun এবং pronoun–কে qualify করে।

The definition of such is the same or as already mentioned.

Example:

That was such a good film. (So নয়)

Why are you in such a hurry? (So নয়)

She has been in such poor health lately.

Their anxiety was such that they could not sleep.

Money as such will seldom bring total happiness.

Some vs Somewhat

Some (কিছু):

Some হলো indefinite numeral adjective এবং এটি noun এবং pronoun–কে qualify করে।

Some is indefinite numeral adjective. The definition of some is an unknown or unspecified number of people or things. Some used as a pronoun is to replace a name or quantity.

Example:

Some friends of him were there. (Somewhat নয়)

Some people came into the room.

Would you like some sugar?

She has been directing films for some years now.

He likes some modern sculpture but not all.

 

Somewhat (কিছুটা):

Somewhat হলো adverb, যা adjective এবং adverb –কে modify করে।

Somewhat means to some extent.

Example:

The patient is somewhat better today. (Some নয়)

He is somewhat hungry.

The news was somewhat of a surprise.

He smiled and looked somewhat relieved.

A bottle of wine, looking somewhat apologetic.

True vs Truth

True (সত্য):

True হলো adjective.

The definition of true is being loyal, something that is real, factually correct, accurate or provable.

Example:

It is true that he has won the game. (Truth নয়)

The archer aimed true.

This is a true story.

He's turned out to be a true friend.

This is true Parmesan cheese.

The true king has returned!

 

Truth (সত্যতা):

Truth হলো noun.

Truth is something that has been proven by facts or sincerity.

Example:

Always speak the truth. (True নয়)

Does this story have any truth?

The truth is, she respects your work.

In truth, he was not qualified for the job.

The truth of his intentions.

Vacant vs Vacate

Vacant (খালি):

Vacant হলো adjective.

The definition of vacant is empty. It is an adjective.

Example:

When the post fell vacant, Sabbir was appointed to fill it. (Vacate নয়)

A vacant row of seats.

The site is vacant now.

He strode through the vacant hallways to the verandah doors.

The cottage was vacant and the windows boarded up for the winter.

She followed Jonny into the dark night.

 

Vacate (খালি করা):

Vacate হলো verb.

Vacate is to move, leaving a place uninhabited. Vacate means to make something void.

Example:

Hotel guests are requested to vacate their rooms by noon. (Vacant নয়)

I have to vacate my house by midday, as the new owner is moving in.

You are hereby ordered to vacate the premises within 14 days.

He vacated his coaching position because of the corruption scandal.

The judge vacated the earlier decision when new evidence was presented.
