ABANDON - He abandoned his wife .

Synonyms:  abdicate, leave, quit, desert, discard.
Antonym: chase, follow, undertake.
- The king abdicated his throne .
-  He undertook the responsibility for charges.

ABASH - I was terribly abashed at his presence there.

Synonyms: humiliate, shame, embarrass, disconcert.
Antonyms: honour, respect, praise, esteem.
- He was humiliated before the public.
- The teacher was much esteemed by his students:


ABATE - This medicine will abate your fever. The storm abated all of a sudden.

Synonyms: decrease, lessen, diminish, allay, subdue, subside.
Antonyms : increase, augment, expand, deepen.
- The food problem was further aggravated by the drought.


ABBREVIATE (vt)- The teacher asked me to abbreviate the essay.

Synonyms: abridge, shorten, contract, condense.
Antonyms: lengthen, extend, protract, prolong.
-This is an abridged edition of that book.
- Regular exercise will lengthen your life.


ABDUCT (vt)- The police think the girl has been abducted.

Synonyms: kidnap. carry off, steal.
Antonyms: deliver, give away, surrender.
- Zinnia alone carried off all the prizes.
- She gave away all her money to the poor.


ABERRATION (n) - His moral aberration astounded his parents.

Synonyms: deviation, variation, distortion, error, disintegration.
Antonyms: integration, integrity, truth, sanity, steadfastness.
- Everybody knows about his sexual deviation.
- Jamil was known to all for his integrity.
