The idea of success is very vague indeed. Very often we hear people speaking of success in life. But what is the true meaning of this much publicised word 'success' these days? Actually, the concept of success may vary from generation to generation, and even from. man to man according to individual outlook. In my opinion, our ancestors' survival against the heavy odds is the greatest success in man's history; others may argue that man's landing on the moon is the greatest success of mankind till today.
But nowadays, the true meaning of success to most of us is achieving material comfort, sophisticated life style, social status and so many other things. For these people high and fast life are essentials of success. The words charity, love and sympathy have no values to them. However successful others may think of them, I will not agree with their concepts.
Look at other people who devoted their entire life for the benefit of mankind. Sri Ramkrishana, Vivekananda and Rishi Aurobinda did not care for any material gain but were successful in the simpliest way. They became a living legend of success. Some present day hard core materialistic people may have other views. What then is the true index of success? Indeed, success is a relative term depending upon personal tests and inclination, it cannot be absolute,
For a student success would obviously mean coming out with flying colours in examinations and getting a good employment after wards. I feel most pupil will consider it a grand success if these are achieved.
But my idea of success is somewhat different. Of course, getting a rank in the Higher Secondary Examination is my first aim. I am not a bad sportsman either. So, representing India at least once is my second ambition. In my professional life I will definitely go for a fat salary to start with and will certainly strive to rise to the top, but I must retain the finer qualities of life in the midest of plenty. While in the prime of my career.I should like to live with all my nearest and dearest ones around me. Let success not turn my head when I would be going up the ladder.
If I can retain all these views at the prime of my career I would consider myself successful.
