Saturday afternoon

[Points: General feeling—I enter my room—relax—music—noise outside—personal feeling-evening with friends—enough energy for the week.]

I always wait eagerly for Saturday afternoons. A feeling of relaxation comes over me everytime it arrives. I get an enjoyable respite from the monotonous daily routine of the week.

After lunch, I tiptoe unstairs to my room, shut the doors and windows, pull down the curtains and lie down on bed to rest. I simply love this moment of the week lying in the dark room with nothing worth doing-with no thought of study in my mind. I relax completely without much care of anything else. I listen to the radio pro gramme, lunch time variety'. The beautiful songs seem just right for the present feeling. A strange idleness envelopes my mind. This is the time for me to make plans for the next week. If my pocket permits I jump quickly from my bed and dart out for a matinee show. But before that I must complete my diary. If I feel tired and my pocket is empty, it is time for me to reach out for a good story book and I remain absorbed in it the whole afternoon. I don't allow anyone to disturb me at that time-nobody is allowed to enter my room. Some noise often float into my ears--the cow mooing, a neighbour washing clothes, cycle rickshaws hooting, a few labourers brawling over cards just beneath veranda. Sometimes I have to get up to ask them to stop brawling; they cannot take away my Saturday afternoon. I return to my bed triumphantly. Unconsciously my eye lids grow heavy and I drift into a siesta. It is now time for tota! relaxation.

In the afternoon I rush to the field to play football. When the game ends a friendly chat with local friends sometimes linger till it is time to study. I feel fresh, totally fresh, after 7 hours of non-stop relaxation. Now I have enough energy to look ahead for the whole week in confidence.
