Interchange of the degree

Positive Degree
This degree reveals the qualities of a Noun or a Pronoun.
Example-
- Rahul is a good boy.
- He is a good boy.
The above sentence has honest and good positive degree.
In Positive Degree mostly as……as, much……as or so…..as are used and it is used in the middle of these pairs.
Where so….as is used for a negative sentence and as…as a positive sentence.
Comparative Degree
This degree is formed by using er or more in the original form of Adjective or Adverb. It is used to compare the quality of a Noun or Pronoun to the qualities of another Noun or Pronoun.
Example-
- Rahul is more honest than his father.
- He is a better boy than me.
In the above sentence, comparing Rahul and his father, Rahul has been described as more honest than his father.
Note – Than is used after degree in comparative degree.
But with some words like superior, junior, senior, to is used in place of than.
Example-
- I am superior than you. (Incorrect)
- I am superior to you. (Correct)
Superlative Degree
This degree is used when comparing a Noun or Pronoun with all other Nouns or Pronouns.
Example-
- Rahul is the most honest boy in his family.
- He is the best boy here.
In the above sentence, Rahul has been described as the most honest in his family.
Note – In the Superlative degree, the is used before the degree. It is formed by using est or most before in Adjective or Adverb.
